The Sad News of Steve Irwin

Wow, this is really sad and really bizarre. Apparently, Australia's famous "Crocodile Hunter", Steve Irwin, has died from a stingray barb through the heart. He was just 44 years old.

For a guy who used to wrestle crocodiles and tangle with the world's most poisonous snakes, I suppose you could say he walked a dangerous tightrope. But to be killed by a stingray?! Crikey.

As crazy as he may have seemed, it was hard not to get caught up in his infectious enthusiasm for animals and nature. There were always risks involved. And he took many. It's just such a shame that he now leaves behind a wife and two very young children. RIP, mate.
