Cocteau Twins - Iceblink Luck
Ahhh, the lovely Cocteau Twins. Anyone remember this little ditty?
This is the video for "Iceblink Luck" from "Heaven or Las Vegas" - probably my favorite Cocteau Twins album. Yet, this was not always the case. There was a time in my life when it had the ability to turn me into an emotional puddle. But it's such a dreamy record. Who could forget the ethereal vocal stylings of Elizabeth Fraser? Has anyone ever made near glossolalia sound so beautiful? And as a guitar player, it's very easy for me to get lost in Robin Guthrie's watery-fuzz guitar sound.
What I like most about videos like this is the sense of minimalism. There are no big set pieces. It's more about the mixing of color and sound and how they seem to compliment each other (while also letting the song stand on its own merits). As a dilettante musician, this is of a particular interest to me = I often see colors and shapes when playing or listening to certain pieces of music. I wonder if there is a word or phrase for that phenomena...
Backtrack here if you're looking for some more nostalgic shoegazin'. Cause everyone needs a little My Bloody Valentine.

thanks for posting this! i forgot how great this album is, makes you think of barefoot walks through parks and around waterfountains at night back when the world was big.
You are welcome! It really is a beautiful record. I don't know about the barefoot walks and all but it definitely conjurs up some nostalgic feelings. :)
